In early February, two devastating earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 hit parts of Turkey and Syria. Over 50,000 lives have been lost, with over 1.5 million people left homeless. Destruction is widespread, with buildings reduced to rubble and millions of livelihoods lost.

We’re supporting those whose lives have been turned upside down by this disaster. Our local teams, themselves impacted, have been working tirelessly to deliver clean water, food, and hygiene kits. With over 40,000 children and families reached so far, your help is making a difference. But so many more remain in need as they seek to recover and rebuild their lives.

Tens of thousands of children now face destructive physical and mental challenges. We are there, helping them to recover, but the need is still so great.

How we work in emergencies

When emergencies hit, children are often the most at risk. That’s why we need to be there – in places torn apart by disasters and conflict.

We respond all over the world

During 2022, we helped over 29 million people in emergencies - including over 14 million children. We respond to humanitarian crises caused by conflict as well as natural disasters.

We’re one of the first organisations to respond when an emergency strikes. Within 72 hours of a disaster, we can deliver lifesaving supplies anywhere in the world – often even sooner.
