Two and a half years of unrelenting war in Ukraine has brought unimaginable suffering and pain to tens of millions of Ukrainians, including the country’s 7.5 million children.

A fresh wave of attacks, starting in the last week of August, has impacted 15 of Ukraine’s 24 regions, and demonstrates the very real danger that still threatens the lives of Ukrainian children on a daily basis.

In addition to the immediate threat of violence millions of Ukrainian children face huge issues of mental health, child protection and education.

Your generosity means that children can continue to get an education, emotional support, and the chance to have fun together.

That’s why we’re asking for your support to continue saving lives and protecting children. We’re still working with our partners in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries, responding to the urgent needs of children and families who have been forced to flee their homes and are still unable to return.

Because of you, we've been able to help over 1.9 million people since the conflict began (45% of these are children). This includes:

supplying over 370,000 people with hygiene kits, keeping children and families safe from disease.
over 270,000 children being able to continue their education, helping them to find normality in the trials of conflict.
over 111,000 children that have been kept safe by child protection programmes.

How we work in emergencies

When emergencies hit, children are often the most at risk. That’s why we need to be there – in places torn apart by disasters and conflict.

We respond all over the world

During 2023, we helped over 36 million people in emergencies - including over 18 million children. We respond to humanitarian crises caused by conflict as well as natural disasters.

We’re one of the first organisations on the ground when an emergency strikes. Within 72 hours of a disaster, we can deliver lifesaving supplies anywhere in the world – often even sooner.
