Matthew 25

Engage your church with God’s heart for the poor

What the challenge is

The Matthew 25 Challenge is an immersive, family-friendly activity that will challenge and bring together your church. Families and individuals are invited to take part in seven days of small challenges, bringing to life Jesus’ call in Matthew 25: 35-40. These daily activities are designed to give people a glimpse into the realities that many children and communities around the world face.

Each day, your congregation will receive prompts to learn, reflect, pray, and undertake challenges like sleeping on the floor as many refugees do, skipping a meal as hungry children do every day and only drinking water as you learn about the global water crisis with daily prayers.

Taking the Matthew 25 Challenge is the perfect opportunity for you to galvanise your congregation to help refugees and the most vulnerable. We will support you all the way, giving the resources your church and congregation need to take part in the virtual challenge together, whenever it’s right for you. Take the first step today to learn about how we can support your church to do the Matthew 25 Challenge - contact us and our Church Team will be in touch for a chat.

There is no question it engages the entire congregation in a way we never have before around mission

Why support the vulnerable

Matthew 25: 35-40 calls us to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable in our world: the hungry, thirsty, stranger, poor, sick and oppressed. You can answer God’s call to serve the needs of the “least of these” by partaking in a week-long challenge in support of refugees.

At World Vision, we believe that together, we are called to help vulnerable children living in the world’s most dangerous places: those forced to flee their homes due to conflict, political instability, famine and disaster. Refugees and displaced people live in some of the hardest circumstances, but together, we can support them to survive; recover; thrive and rejoice.

In disasters, children are at their most vulnerable. By taking the Matthew 25 Challenge, your congregation will daily open their hearts and understand a tiny extent of the struggle that children across the world face in the midst of disasters, and raise money to support the vital support work they need at that moment.
