Pray for families affected by earthquakes
Join us in prayer for families in Venezuela, Columbia and Indonesia.
In less than two months, three major earthquakes have brought devastation to communities across the world.
First, two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on 24 June. Then, on 10 August, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake shook Colombia, causing widespread damage and disruption. Most recently, communities in Indonesia have also been affected by a devastating earthquake, leaving families fearful and in need of support.
Children are often among the most vulnerable after a disaster. As families mourn loved ones, search for shelter and begin the difficult task of rebuilding, let us pray for all those affected.
Across Venezuela, Colombia and Indonesia, families are facing the difficult aftermath of devastating earthquakes. World Vision is responding alongside local communities, providing urgent support and assessing ongoing needs.
Having worked in Colombia since 1978, Indonesia for more than six decades and Venezuela since 2019, our teams are well placed to support children and families both now and in the months ahead.
As rescue efforts continue and communities begin to rebuild, please pray with us for everyone affected.

For those who have lost loved ones
Heavenly Father,
we lift up all those grieving in the aftermath of the earthquakes in Venezuela, Columbia and Indonesia.
For those who have lost family and friends,
and for those still waiting anxiously for news,
bring comfort and strength.
In their pain and uncertainty, be their refuge.
Surround them with your love and support,
and may they know the peace that only you can give
For children facing fear and trauma
Lord,
we lift up the children affected by these disasters.
Many are frightened and unsure of what lies ahead.
Some have been separated from those they love,
others are overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty.
Bring them your peace.
Keep them safe, warm and protected,
and place caring people around them
who will comfort and reassure them.
For those who have lost homes
God our refuge,
we pray for all who have lost their homes
or have been forced to flee to safety.
In the midst of chaos and uncertainty,
provide shelter, protection and daily provision.
Bring reassurance to those who feel vulnerable,
and restore hope for the days ahead.
For those responding with aid and rescue
Lord God,
we thank you for the courage of rescue workers, medical teams,
and all those responding.
Strengthen them as they search for survivors
and care for the injured.
Give them endurance, compassion and wisdom.
Provide the resources they need,
remove barriers to aid,
and guide them to those most in need.
For the world’s response
God of justice and compassion,
we pray for leaders and nations around the world
as they continue to respond to these crises.
Stir generosity, unity and urgency,
so that help reaches every family affected
and no one is left behind.
