How we do this: Chosen Sponsorship

Chosen Sponsorship gives children the power to take hold of their future, to create change in their own lives, and to transform their community. With Chosen Sponsorship, we flip the script.

Instead of you choosing which child you would like to sponsor, a child from Mwendanjira in Malawi will choose you at one of our choosing parties.This is what makes this so special. 

It’s powerful. It’s personal. And it reminds us that this is all about dignity, connection, and relationship - not just generosity

How does sponsorship help

Through child sponsorship, something powerful happens: when you sponsor one child, you help at least four more children. 

Together, that means:

  • Children receiving education

  • Communities gaining clean water and sanitation

  • Families accessing healthcare

  • Parents equipped with jobs, training, and income

  • Local people given the tools to break free from extreme poverty

How does Chosen Sponsorship work?

What can I expect as a sponsor? 

 

Your sponsorship questions answered

  • A choosing event is an empowering experience where children come together in their community, and for the first time, get to choose a sponsor. Photos that sponsors have submitted are displayed and they are invited to choose their sponsor from the selection of photos. After choosing, they write a letter to their sponsor letting them know why they chose them.

  • Sponsoring a chid starts from just £30 a month, that’s less than £1 a day. A small donation that creates a big impact because our sponsorship model is community-led, so your support extends beyond one child and will help transform a whole community. 

    What does your money achieve?  

    •    Clean water systems are built and maintained. 

    •    Schools are equipped and teachers trained. 

    •    Clinics are stocked and health workers supported. 

    •    Families learn new skills to earn a stable income. 

    By strengthening the whole community, children are more likely to thrive – and stay thriving – even after sponsorship ends. It’s a smart, sustainable way to help.

  • The donation you give doesn't go directly to your sponsored child or family. 

    For maximum impact and efficiency, your monthly donations are combined with those of other sponsors to ensure consistent support for your sponsored child and their community, as well as other sponsorship communities around the world. This means your donations go much further.

  • If your circumstances change and you need to stop sponsoring a child, you can do so at any time. If you are thinking about cancelling your sponsorship, please get in touch, as there may be other ways in which you can continue your support. The child you sponsor will continue to benefit from the changes in their community and we will do our best to find a new sponsor for them.
