Pray for Sudan
As tensions escalate, learn why there’s conflict in Sudan and pray with us.
What has caused the conflict in Sudan?
Fighting between Sudan’s military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces erupted on 15 April 2023 in Sudan’s capital Khartoum, following days of tension.
The Sudan crisis centres around a proposed transition to civilian rule. The security situation escalated and over 300 people, including three humanitarian workers, have been killed. Some UN and INGO offices have been forcibly broken into, with equipment stolen and offices ransacked.
The fighting has spread to other cities including Nyala, in South Darfur state, where World Vision works.
World Vision’s field operations have been temporarily suspended and staff have been requested to stay indoors until the situation de-escalates.
Almost 16 million people in Sudan are dependent on humanitarian agencies, including World Vision, for aid. Millions of people, including children, are being impacted by this unrest.

Please pray
Dear Lord, we are grieved to hear news of violence in Sudan. We especially remember all the children who are being impacted by this conflict and pray for your protection on them and their families.
Lord, we know that people are hurting deeply and our thoughts are with them. You know the hearts of all involved, and we pray that you will heal their hurts - bringing about peace and reconciliation.
Loving Father, we pray for the people of Sudan who have already seen so much devastation in their country. May you comfort them in their grief. Keep the flames of hope alive we pray, and restore the nation.
And Lord, we thank you for all the good that has been accomplished in Sudan through World Vision and others. We pray that you will be with aid workers at this time; keep them and their families safe - and may they safely return to their work very soon.
In your name we pray, Amen.
