Cabrini & Strong Women Strong World partnership

Celebrating and championing women's voices and achievements.

World Vision is thrilled to announce its partnership with KOVA International ahead of the release of new film, Cabrini, on 15 March - with previews in select cities on 08 March in celebration of International Women's Day and Mother's Day.

Based on a true story, the film portrays an Italian immigrant who arrives in New York City in 1889 and attempts to secure housing and healthcare for society's most vulnerable, using her entrepreneurial mind to build hope for those in need.

Francesca Cabrini - also known as Mother Cabrini - has been an inspiration and a pioneer for women throughout generations, and we're delighted that KOVA are partnering with us for our Strong Women Strong World campaign, as we both believe in the incredible power of women and their ability to shape a brighter future.

“We are incredibly proud to be supporting this wonderful film," said Charlotte Maytum, Programme Manager (Strong Women Strong World).  "We were moved by this powerful story of Francesca Cabrini who supported those in need, bringing them dignity and a future. Just like Cabrini, we believe in doing what’s right - helping the world’s most vulnerable children experience fullness of life.”

Our Strong Women Strong World movement believes gender equality is key to effective development, which is why it is perfectly suited to partner with Cabrini.

We fight for female rights everyday, not just on one day

12 million girls marry before the age of 18 every year. That’s 28 girls every minute.

At least 120 million girls under the age of 20 – about 1 in 10 – have also been forced to engage in sex or perform other sexual acts. And at least 200 million women and girls aged 15-49 have undergone Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in 30 countries where data is available.

Our Strong Women Strong World initiative combines world-class programmes in health, water, education, child protection and  economic empowerment, with building healthy mindsets to help women and girls to break the cycle of poverty and reach their full potential.

When practical barriers are eliminated and girls are supported early in their lives by their families, community leaders, and faith leaders, women and girls thrive. That’s what makes Strong Women Strong World different in our approach and our impact.

Join us as we champion the cause of equality for women and celebrate female achievements. Together we can make things happen.
