Every two minutes a child dies from dirty water. At risk of waterborne disease and diarrhoea – and now coronavirus too. They urgently need your help.
Thank you for giving what you can.
Save lives and transform futures with the gift of clean water
Millions of children walk miles in the blazing heat to collect water that isn’t clean. They’re thirsty, tired and frequently ill. Missing out on school and the chance of a proper childhood.
Children like eight-year-old Ireen, (pictured) who used to collect water from a stream three or four times a day. She would set off early – so as not to be late for school. But often the dirty water gave her diarrhoea and meant she had to miss lessons.
Children like Ireen are vulnerable to diseases like cholera, and now coronavirus too. Their communities desperately need clean water so they can protect themselves.
They urgently need your help. Your gift today could:
- Provide a shared sink, with a tap, for a whole community to wash their hands and stay clean, healthy and safe.
- Help to drill a borehole and install a handpump in a community like Ireen’s, providing safe, clean water near hundreds of families’ homes.
- Maintain a borehole in a community like Ireen’s, empowering communities with the tools and training to sustain their own clean water supply.
How your donation helps
World Vision are reaching someone new with clean water every 10 seconds. Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to install a borehole in Ireen’s village. It’s been life-changing for the whole community. “Now we can rest and work in the garden. My children can play and do their schoolwork,” explains Ireen’s mum, Happiness.
With clean water, children are safer and healthier, protected from illness, disease and the dangers they face on the long walk to get water. They have the time and energy to go to school and get the education they need to be able to look forward to a brighter future. Stronger, safer and free to learn, play and thrive – children’s lives and futures are transformed.
Your gift today of clean water to a community like Ireen’s could protect vulnerable children and give them the opportunity to fulfil their God-given potential.
Our heart is always for the world’s most vulnerable children and the communities where they live. Your gift today – however large or small – will help children around the world, wherever the need is greatest.
