Sponsor a girl and change her life for good
We believe all children deserve a chance for life in all its fullness, but in some places simply being a girl is a disadvantage. For just 85p a day you could bring hope to a little girl’s life;
protection, clean water, food, healthcare and education
- for her, her family and the whole community.
Sponsor a girl and save a childhood.

Saloni's life in India
Saloni’s daily needs:
For children like Saloni, growing up in Vaishali, hunger and malnutrition are facts of life. Jobs are hard to come by so parents find it hard to earn enough to provide for their children. Those children who do attend school struggle as teachers are poorly trained.
- Children don't eat enough nutritious food, and often go hungry.
- Parents can't afford to buy clothing and school books for their children.
- Schools are badly overcrowded and lack basic equipment like desks and books.
Your sponsorship can change Saloni's world, and her community, for good.
How Sponsorship Helps
When you sponsor a child for £26 a month it brings much needed change to one child… and many more. The benefits you help provide, extend to your child's family, their community and other children in need. This is because we partner, plan and work alongside local community members to help build healthy, sustainable communities for vulnerable children in the world’s hardest places.
We listen to the child's community and help to identify their main needs.
We work with the community to develop a long-term action plan.
We make sure immediate needs are met, then move on to start the process of deeper, sustainable change.
We train volunteers, empower local groups, and provide resources and support for the community to make changes that will last long into the future.
What will your donation actually change?
Because of our community-focused solutions, for every child you help, four more children benefit, too. Depending on the priority needs in your child’s community, as a sponsor you will be improving lives by providing:
Each year children are dying from diseases caught by drinking dirty water. World Vision is reaching one new person with clean water every 10 seconds and brings clean water to three more schools every day.
We save lives by training volunteer health care assistants, bringing vaccination programmes, and working with families to help protect their children from infection and disease ensuring the most vulnerable have access to healthcare services.
We deliver nutrition programmes and farmers' schools, teaching new techniques to grow stronger crops, protect the soil and grow kitchen gardens - helping families feed their children and saving millions of lives around the world.
Education can transform a child’s life. We’re improving basic literacy and numeracy and working alongside communities to help them better understand their children's rights, and raise their voices to protect and provide for their children.
We provide training in new skills, and support mothers to start their own businesses helping provide a stable income so children and families can have better nutrition, healthcare and greater access to education.

Why sponsor a girl?
Sponsoring a girl child could be one of the most important decisions you ever make. In Africa, India and across the world, our child sponsorship programmes tackle deep-rooted issues, to give girls protection and opportunities that we often take for granted in the UK.
Sponsor a girl to access healthcare
Around the world girls often suffer worse health than their brothers. Sons are more likely to be taken to clinics and immunised. Unfortunately, parents can see investment in their daughter as a waste as it’s the family she marries into that will reap the benefits.
Sponsor a girl to eat well
It’s not uncommon for girls to be less nourished than boys, particularly in countries in South and South East Asia. Food can be allocated according to status rather than need, which me
ans mothers and daughters eat less than fathers and boys.
Sponsor a girl to go to school
Girls are less likely to receive an education than boys. In a number of countries, girls are more likely to drop out of school than boys to help at home, or to get married at an early age.
We know that educated girls have better opportunities. They can earn higher wages. They’re likely to marry later, have healthier pregnancies and safer births. And their own children are likely to be healthier and to get an education too.
Sponsor a girl to save her childhood
Stories of child marriage to often involve lifelong psychological, physical and economic problems, especially when teenage pregnancies are involved. Pregnancy complications are the leading cause of death for 15-19 year old girls worldwide.
