An Indomitable spirit
At just 12, Azzam has missed his childhood, shouldering the burden of supporting his family through displacement and hunger. Bombing in Erbril forced him from home, and the experience of physical and emotional abuse has made him older than his twelve years.
But, for the first time in a long time, Azzam and his family are safer than they’ve been before. Free from bombing and persecution, a desert refugee camp is their new beginning.
A beginning Azzam needs your prayers for because the conflict has stolen his childhood.
World Vision’s cash for food programme is helping – though the child friendly space gave Azzam informal education, he’s desperate to study properly. But age is against him, as he’s now too old for the grade he needs to join. That won’t kill Azzam’s indomitable spirit though - Azzam dreams of becoming a teacher one day and his eyes tell a story of someone who will work to get his dreams.
