Quality education can transform a child’s life and break the cycle of poverty. We’re working alongside communities to improve basic literacy and numeracy skills, help children better understand their rights, and help communities raise their voices to protect and provide for their children.
We work with some of the most vulnerable children in the world, and protecting children is an essential part of everything we do. This includes children affected by extreme deprivation, abuse or exploitation, those vulnerable to disaster, or living with a disability.
We teach people about food from the 'ground up'. From protecting the soil, growing stronger crops, effective farming techniques, to kitchen gardens and nutrition and food assistance, in times of emergency, we help families feed their children.
We save lives by training volunteer healthcare assistants, vaccinating children, and working with vulnerable families to help protect their children from infection and disease, including coronavirus, with quality medical care. We also help them access healthcare services.
Each year children die from diseases caught by drinking and washing in dirty water. Sponsorship helps us build latrines and clean water taps – so no mother has to choose between her children drinking dirty water, or not at all. Access to clean and safe water saves children's lives, keeps children healthy, and in school.
By providing training in new skills, and supporting mothers to start their own businesses, we're helping families gain a stable income so they can afford the essentials, like healthcare, nutrition, and education.
We will do everything to give the best education to our children. Education is like food. We don’t want to let a day pass by without it.

Khushboo's mother
Khushboo, who is 15 years old, has been a sponsored child since 2010. Before then, her family had no toilet and had to walk 10-15 minutes to go to the toilet in the open, which was an ordeal, especially during monsoons.
However the biggest transformation has been in her ability to pursue education. Khushboo achieved the 16th highest marks in her whole district, scoring 92% at the State Matric Exam in 2019.
Her success is a testament of her commitment, and the education programmes she has been able to attend over the years.
Khushboo has outgrown the dress she received from her sponsor but she still holds on to the letter and the postcard.
She says, “It was because of the help from my sponsor that I could study well. I thank World Vision for the changes in my life. I attend every World Vision programme and have got lots of encouragement. My family and I want to thank you for all the help.”

All of World Vision's work begins with listening to communities in need. Community leaders work with us to identify the most vulnerable children and families who will benefit from Child Sponsorship.
We work with national governments and other international agencies to identify the regions and communities that are most in need and where the most vulnerable children live. We then meet with community leaders and the wider community to gain a greater understanding of the challenges and the opportunities that exist for them.
