Flood-affected families in Jabouri receive essential relief supplies

By Moussadiq Ali in Pakistan

More than 20 families affected by heavy rains and flash floods in quake-hit Jabouri received food and essential items from World Vision on the weekend as the community mourned the loss of six lives.

Heavy monsoon rains and flash floods last week caused extensive damage to the village, nestled in the Siran Valley, washing away houses and shelters and previously tall-standing healthy crops.

World Vision staff stationed in Jabouri immediately reached the mudslide area to offer assistance and a rapid assessment was conducted within 24 hours to ascertain the needs of the displaced.

“After the earthquake we received food rations, tents and tarpaulins, corrugated iron sheets for construction of shelters, seeds and fertilisers and also a buffalo from World Vision. Today I have received a tent, tarpaulins, quilts and pillows, mattresses and a gas cylinder besides wheat flour, sugar and vegetable oil,” he continued.
