What are we doing?
Coordination of effort – World Vision is coordinating its relief effort with governments, aid organisations and the United Nations in response to the massive earthquake which has devastated communities and killed hundreds of thousands in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan.
Immediate Assessment – A World Vision emergency response team from all over the affected region is responding to the immediate needs on the ground. They have been distributing winterised tents, relief supplies and essential goods such as cooking sets, blankets, food and water and providing medical assistance.
Protective environments for children – Areas have also set up to provide safe and protected environments, particularly for children to establish a routine. For materials that cannot be sourced locally, World Vision has sent supplies such as tents, blankets and food aid in cargo relief planes from World Vision's warehouse in Brindisi, Italy, Germany and Dubai.
World Vision's ongoing presence in Pakistan – World Vision has been working with local communities in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan for two years in response to natural disasters including flooding, severe snowstorms and landslides. It has been providing food, temporary shelter and rehabilitation of schools and public buildings.
It has also provided emergency first aid training to hundreds of teachers in disaster-prone areas. World Vision has been working across India for almost 50 years.
