Uganda and South Africa
Uganda
The beautiful country of Uganda is landlocked and is situated in East Africa. Uganda has been hit particularly hard by HIV and AIDS which has spread rapidly through the population. However, thanks to World Vision and other humanitarian agencies, the response to this has resulted in HIV infection rates dropping significantly. The country is now seen as a model for responding to the HIV and AIDS pandemic.
South Africa
South Africa has, like many other African countries, been affected by the HIV and AIDS epidemic, and has the world’s largest HIV-positive population; more than 5.7 million people in South Africa are HIV-positive, including 280,000 children. Many of those children have lost both their parents to this disease and World Vision is working in the communities living in the Kodumela ADP to improving access to quality healthcare.
