What is advocacy?
Advocacy is about speaking out against injustice and the abuse of rights, with and on behalf of the poor and oppressed. It is about influencing decision makers and challenging policies that cause inequality and suffering.

Advocacy is done through:- Researching the causes of poverty and injustice
- Lobbying to influence policies and change laws
- Development education to increase understanding of the issues
- Public campaigning to raise awareness and mobilise action
- Raising the profile of issues and encouraging debate though TV, radio, press and online media
- Education and skill sharing to enable the poor to undertake advocacy for themselves
