World Vision is a member of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and as such is required to operate within the stringent rules of the DMA's Code of Practice for Electronic Commerce, which was developed in consultation with the Office of Fair Trading and the Data Protection Register. World Vision is compliant with the international Payment Card Industry standard for the secure processing of credit and debit card payments.
If you sponsor a child through World Vision, or are involved in some other World Vision activity which involves a personal link to our overseas programmes, elements of your personal data necessary to fulfil the activity (e.g. your name and address) will be shared with relevant World Vision offices in that country. Such countries may not have comparable Data Protection laws to the UK. We will ensure that the minimum amount of data necessary to fulfil the activity is transferred. The World Vision Partnership is committed to implementing appropriate procedures, internal controls and technical infrastructure to protect personal data in all of its offices.
We will never share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Where we do use other organisations to carry out fundraising or communications activities and related administration on our behalf, we remain legally responsible for the handling of your data. Formal written contracts and agreements are put in place and their implementation monitored to ensure the continued security of your data.
