“This is my first time to plant anything. I am so happy and excited. I am starting to like farming.”
Habiba Mentane, from Somalia, is now able to feed her family.

Your gift of water, food, healthcare education will change a poor family’s life forever. Giving it is so easy – and the benefits will go on and on. 22-year-old Habiba Mentane from Somalia had absolutely nothing. Her family were nomads. They survived by moving from place to place, in search of food – and were often forced to beg. But now, with the support of World Vision, Habiba is able to feed her family. She was given the seeds and tools she needed to settle down and start farming. She now grows vegetables – which provide not just nutritious food, but the chance to earn a living.

In the city of Pune in India, a World Vision project is making a difference to many people, particularly women and children. Families affected by HIV and AIDS in the area often live in loneliness and fear because of stigma and discrimination. Furthermore, if a parent is lost to the disease, it can be hard for those left behind to earn enough money to survive.

But thanks to Essentials supporters in the UK we are providing food and treatment to those who need it most. World Vision are also giving opportunities to learn skills that can improve the family income, and educating the surrounding community to understand more about HIV and AIDS.

Babita Gyneshwar, a 35-year old woman is thankful for the opportunity to learn tailoring skills so that she can earn money stitching clothes. “They (World Vision) stood with me when no one was willing to even talk to me. I also receive food from World Vision. This helps in reducing my burden, I can spend some money on my children for their education.”

Things in Pune are changing for the better - for just £2 a week you can be a part of that change.

You can make a difference by contributing to life's Essentials.
