In some of the communities that we work with, many families suffer constant health problems. As well as diseases associated with poverty, like diarrhoea, there can be a high rate of HIV infections.
But World Vision projects, in partnership with these communities, provide basic health education to help local people to avoid unnecessary diseases. Women will be encouraged to take their babies to the clinic to get them immunised, while older children are vaccinated against tetanus. Some of these projects have also started giving training to people most at risk of HIV infection – and support and care will be offered to those who have the disease already, to enable them to live and look after their children for as long as possible. We hope to continue giving more and more people the chance of better health.
