During Angola’s years of bloody civil war, countless innocent families were forced to abandon their land and flee to safety. But, when peace finally returned, many could not return to their farms, as the land was littered with landmines – and they could not restart farming elsewhere, as their precious livestock had been pillaged by soldiers.
However World Vision supporters are funding a project in the hard-hit Bailundo municipality which is now helping people to begin again. Families in need are receiving vital food aid, to help them avoid malnutrition. They will also soon get the seeds and tools they need to start growing crops again, so they can feed themselves within one or two seasons. In addition, we are hoping to give local people animals like goats, which they will share – until they multiply, when each family will get their own livestock.
