Health matters
Today, more than 25,000 children under age 5 will die from preventable or treatable causes, that is an estimated 9.2 million children under 5 who will die this year. During the same period another ¾ million children in the same age group will die of malaria - and the vast majority of all these child deaths occur in developing countries.
There may be cures for their conditions, but they don't have access to the necessary medication, treatment, or immunisations. Their parents may lack basic knowledge of nutrition, hygiene, and health care. And their governments don’t have the resources to provide adequate health programs. When parents aren't healthy, they can’t provide for their families’ needs. And when children aren’t healthy, they can't attend school or focus on their future.
Through its health and hygiene work, World Vision is helping to enhance the quality of life for children and their families in order to help them reach their potential.
